HTML, assembled on the server.
Articles are stored as structured blocks and rendered into your theme as HTML when they are served.
- From a server in TokyoPages are served from a server in Tokyo, through Cloudflare.
- Images as WebPWebP sizes are made from each upload and served from the site’s own domain with srcset and lazy loading. Cover and card images use the same sizes.
Running your sites
Every site in one admin
Manage several sites from one login. Each site has its own plan.
Roles per site
Owner, administrator, editor, author (own posts), contributor (drafts only), viewer. Invite people by email.
Your own domain
Every site goes live at yourname.plikli.com. On Pro and up, connect your own domain and check the connection from the admin.
Author pages
Pen-name authors, several authors per post, and an archive page for each.
Contact inbox
Messages from the contact page arrive in an admin inbox. No IP address is stored.
Export as a ZIP
Posts, tags, authors, redirects, settings and images in one ZIP, with a WXR file WordPress can import.
SEO
Structured data, automatically
Article, breadcrumbs, author (Person), FAQ, product, recipe and more, as JSON-LD.
Sitemaps and RSS
Updated on publish. Posts marked noindex or canonicalised elsewhere are left out. Tags with fewer than three posts are noindexed and dropped from the sitemap, and tag pages use the tag’s own description.
IndexNow
New and updated posts (not noindex ones) are sent to IndexNow search engines such as Bing. Google doesn’t take part, so it reads the sitemap.
robots.txt, llms.txt, ads.txt
Generated by default, editable per site in the admin.
Search Console
Verify, add the property, submit the sitemap and see search performance.
Opportunities
From Search Console data: posts close to the top, posts with many impressions but few clicks, and searches you have no post for.
Redirects
Changing a URL creates its 301. Add 301, 302 or 410 rules by hand, and see how often each is used.
Broken-link checks
Outside links and images are checked on a schedule; broken ones (404, 410, or no such host) are listed by post.
Real-user page speed
LCP, INP and CLS from real readers, with the slowest posts listed.
Analytics and ad tags
GA4, GTM, Google Ads and AdSense, with a consent banner and a page for Japan’s external-transmission rules (/third-party-services).
Trust-page templates
Templates for an editorial policy (with an operator section), a research-method page and a privacy policy written for Japan’s APPI. Fill in the 【】 parts; not legal advice.
Editing
Block editor
Type “/” to add any of 28 blocks.
Scheduled publishing
Publishes at the time you set; the time in the site’s time zone is shown too.
Revisions and restore
Each save that changes the title or body keeps a version you can restore.
Small fixes keep the date
Save a typo fix as a small edit and the “updated” date stays the same.
Internal-link ideas
Related published posts are suggested as you write, and posts nothing links to are listed.
Media library
Upload many files at once, edit alt text, and confirm before deleting an image a post still uses.
Checks before publishing
Flags missing alt text, vague link text, uneven table rows and similar gaps.
Bulk actions
Trash, set authors in bulk, change URLs in bulk with 301s.
Search and replace
Replace wording across all posts, with a preview first; changes are kept as revisions.
Duplicate posts, automatic slugs
Copy a post into a new draft. A new draft’s URL follows its title until it is published.
Japanese site search
Readers’ searches match every word typed, including in the body.
The parts Japanese blogs use, as blocks.
11 of the 28 blocks were made for Japanese blogs. Word Balloon and Speech Bubble shortcodes from WordPress become speech-bubble blocks on import.
Speech bubble
A speaker with a face, saying or thinking a line, on either side.
Box
Point, caution, memo, Q&A, steps, summary, or merits and demerits.
Blog card
A link shown as a card with its title and image; outside pages are re-read every 14 days.
Ranking
Numbered picks with gold, silver and bronze.
Rating
Overall stars, score bars, pros and cons.
Shop links
Amazon, Rakuten and Yahoo! Shopping buttons in one block.
Supervisor
Who checked the article, with their credentials.
Recipe
Time, servings, ingredients and steps, with Recipe structured data.
Itinerary
A model course of times and places, with budget and duration.
Swatches
Colour swatches tagged with personal colour or skin type.
Savings calculator
Monthly amount × years × return, worked out for the reader.
The other blocks
The Shopify blocks need the Shopify connection (Pro and up).
24 themes, 10 made for Japanese blogs.
Every plan includes every theme.

Hanabira
Personal, everyday blogs: the writer up top, soft pastel cards, rounded type.

Kachi
Affiliate and comparison sites: one top pick above the fold, rankings and comparisons up front.

Sumi
Essays, book reviews and culture: vertical titles, mincho type, a seal as the mark.

Tsuzuri
Long reads and serials: one column of large text, chapter navigation, reading time.

Spec
Gadget and tech reviews: dark by default, scores and specs up front.

Kurashi
Family, saving and home: a warm photo grid and category tiles.

Tabi
Travel and days out: browse by region and prefecture, model courses up front.

Kondate
Food and recipes: browse by course, such as mains, sides and make-ahead dishes.

Compact
Screenshots show each front page with sample posts; your own posts and photos take their place.
Customise
Accent colour, typeface (gothic, mincho or rounded), text size, card style, image corners, header and footer, and homepage sections, saved per theme.
Article tools
Share buttons (X, LINE, Hatena, Facebook, copy link), reading time, an automatic contents list before the first heading, a floating contents button, a PR notice, a button bar on phones (up to two buttons), tap-to-zoom images, related and most-read posts, breadcrumbs and an author box.
The 10 Japanese themes load a web font from Google Fonts while their default typeface is selected (it is listed on the external-transmission page automatically); choosing another typeface turns it off. Share buttons are plain links and load nothing from the social networks.
Earning
Shop links
Amazon Associates, Rakuten Affiliate and ValueCommerce (Yahoo! Shopping) links in one block. Rakuten items have price and stock refreshed regularly, and an ended item falls back to a Rakuten search.
Rankings, ratings, comparisons
Blocks for roundups and comparison posts.
In-article ads
AdSense ads at the start, middle or end of posts (Pro and up).
Product cards in articles
Pick Shopify products and collections to show in posts (Pro and up).
Publish to your Shopify blog
Articles written in Plikli can also go to your Shopify blog (Pro and up).
PR notice
Show a PR notice (for example “This article contains promotions”) at the top of every post, for Japan’s stealth-marketing rules. Off by default; the wording is yours.
Themes for earning
Kachi, Ranking, Review, Shop Guide, Catalogue and others.

API
Content API
Posts, pages, tags and site settings as JSON.
API keys
Require an API key for a private site. Keys are shown once and can be revoked any time (Pro and up).
Data export
The JSON and WXR files in the export let you move elsewhere.
Start by moving one site.
New sites get 14 days of Pro for free, no card needed. The WordPress import shows you a preview before it writes anything.
Reader comments, with only what’s needed.
Each site chooses off, moderated or open. Comments are off by default.
Just a name and a comment
A nickname is fine. No email address, URL or IP address is stored.
Spam filtering built in
A signed form token, checks for too-fast posts, repeats and too many links, and an option (on by default) to filter out comments with no Japanese. Works without JavaScript.
Moderation and replies
Pending, approved, spam and trash queues, and replies marked with a staff badge. There are no email alerts for new comments.
