Move from WordPress,
posts and URLs included.
Posts, images, authors, SEO settings and approved comments. A preview that writes nothing shows you what will come across first.
Four steps. Pause, resume or undo at any point.
Connect
Enter the site URL and an application password, or upload the file from Tools → Export (up to 100 MB).
Preview
See post counts, the SEO plugin, page builders, shortcodes, URL structure and plan limits. Nothing is written yet. Over Starter’s 500-post limit, you can import part of the site.
Import
Imports in batches, copies images, points internal links at new URLs and creates redirects. Pause and resume any time.
Sync and switch
Right before switching DNS, Sync again (REST connection) brings across anything changed meanwhile. Keeping WordPress for a while after the switch gives you a fallback.
What comes across
Posts and pages
Published and last-modified dates kept. Published stays published, scheduled stays scheduled, drafts and pending become drafts; private and password-protected posts become drafts with a warning.
Categories and tags
Names, slugs and descriptions kept, with every post still linked to them.
Authors
Names and bios become the site’s bylines. No login accounts are created.
Images
Featured, gallery and body images are copied into the media library (up to 60 per post, 25 MB each). Resized copies fold into the original; alt text and captions come too.
SEO settings
Titles, descriptions, canonicals and noindex: from Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO and SEOPress in an export file, or Yoast SEO over REST.
URLs and redirects
If 90% of URLs fit a supported permalink structure, they stay the same. Changed post, page, category, tag, author, attachment, media and /feed/ URLs get a 301, and internal links are rewritten.
Comments
Approved comments with name, date and text, up to 5,000. Reply threads are flattened. They appear when comments are on.
Shortcodes
[caption], [embed], [youtube], [video], [audio] and [gallery] are converted, and Word Balloon and Speech Bubble shortcodes become editable speech-bubble blocks.
Reports
URL map, comments and warnings as CSV files (with a BOM for Excel).
What doesn’t come across, or changes
| WordPress | After the import |
|---|---|
| Custom post types, custom fields (ACF etc.) | Not imported. WooCommerce products fall under this. |
| Page builders (Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Oxygen) | Imported as their finished HTML and listed as warnings. |
| Other shortcodes | The tags are removed, their text is kept, and they are listed in the report. |
| Comments | Unapproved comments and reply threading are not imported. |
| Menus, widgets, reusable blocks | Not imported. Plikli themes build navigation from your categories and content. |
| Revisions, page hierarchy, sticky posts, post passwords | Not imported. |
| User accounts and avatars | Authors come across as bylines; no login accounts or avatars are created. |
| Custom OG images | Not imported. |
| WordPress plugins | Plikli doesn’t run their PHP. The features of popular plugins are built in (see the list). |
